Based on a flexible, scalable infrastructure, the SAP for Banking solution portfolio provides an environment for incorporating new technologies, controlling core banking processes, and extending operations to the Internet. The core banking capabilities connect front-office activities with back-office systems, enable real-time processing of key financial transactions, and speed the development of multichannel products and services that meet the needs of the demand-oriented market.

SAP core banking application modules include:
Deposits Management (DM)
Bank Customer Accounts (BCA) - retail deposits system - Current, Savings, and Fixed Term
Account Managment (AM) - higher-end replacement for BCA
Loans (CML)
Collateral Management (CMS)

It has a four-tier architecture of database, application, Web services, and presentation layers built on the SAP NetWeaver platform. The product is SOA-compliant through the SAP Enterprise Services Architecture (ESA).

SAP has won key customers in Europe, Africa and Asia with its SAP for Banking product.
